Hiker Spots Crashed Vehicle Down Embankment

The vehicle was spotted shortly before 11:30 a.m. by a hiker on Schabarum Trail, near Amar Road, according to the hiker

A hiker spotted a crashed and disabled vehicle while walking up the Schabarum Trail in Walnut Ranch Park today.

"We hiked up as we usually do," resident Diane Chinn told Patch.

The hikers were on the trail and spotted the vehicle about 11:25 a.m.

"Halfway up (a) big mountain we saw a car off a slope," Chinn said.

The resident said she called sheriff's deputies and two of them came to her home to take a report, but a lieutenant at the sheriff's Walnut station said he could find no documentation of the visit.

This is the City of walnut, off of Amar Road. By a Walnut Ranch Park about 200 ft from Walnut ranch Park up towards Schabarum Trail . And there is documentation, I saw them entering it. The call desk person at night may have to go back and check call log. :)

I've hiked that trail before and have seen that vehicle- I understand it has been there for years. It looks like an old Chrysler LeBaron convertible. The City should have the owner remove it since it appears to be a hazard.
