School Board Honors Suzanne Student for Service

Alya Rehman, an eighth grader, was recognized for her work with the school's Conservation Club.

The Walnut Valley Unified Board of Trustees this week honored Suzanne Middle School eighth grader Alya Rehman.

Principal Les Ojeda named Alya as the school’s Super Star, according to a news release.

“We’re so blessed to have so many students in our District that excel not only academically but in many other areas to serve our community. Alya Rehman has made significant contributions during the last three years as a member of the school’s Conservation Club,” Ojeda said.

This year, Alya served as the club’s public relations officer and area captain for the weekly recycling program.  The teen also worked with another member to create the club’s first website.

Alya was recognized for always being a dependable, reliable, and hard working member of the club.  She works independently and always makes sure to get the job done.  She also has been described as flexible, willing to work on any assigned task, and quick to volunteer.

The Conservation Club’s mission is to create an informed community of young citizens who are actively engaged in environmental issues facing our planet and are well equipped to become lifelong ambassadors of the environment.

“Alya encompasses all of these attributes,” Ojeda said.

That' what High Speed Universities is all about, to further the education of students. They need more than a high school degree today, they need at least 2 years of college, preferrably 4, and then we're going to work with communities so they can grow economically and create more jobs for our young people
