They Call That Kid A Whiz
Walnut High School junior Stephany Yong is active on campus and off.
○ Name: Stephany Yong
○ Age: 16
○ School: Walnut High
○ Accomplishment: Serves on the Walnut Youth Advisory Commission
○ Key to Awesomeness: Stephany was appointed to serve on the city’s Youth Advisory Commission in October. The group of 15 middle and high school students is working on a campaign to put an end to the littering of cigarette butts on city streets and reduce tobacco use. “We are supposed to represent the youth’s voice in our community,” she said.
The junior, who has a 4.0 GPA, is in Walnut High’s International Baccalaureate Program. She is one of the editors and chief of the yearbook, president of the Model United Nations club on campus, vice president of the Future Business Leaders of America, and is the head of publicity for Relay for Life.
“The Walnut community really encourages that,” she said of public service. “It’s so easy to get involved.”
If you know any whiz kids, check out how to submit his/her accomplishment(s) and key(s) to awesomeness to Patch.
