Vehicle Crashes, Overturns, Youths Arrested

The crash was reported on westbound SR 60, just west of Phillips Ranch Road about 5:45 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

A vehicle overturned on westbound state Route 60 today, snarling all westbound traffic for nearly an hour, injuring at least one person and leading to the arrest of two juveniles, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash, just west of Phillips Ranch Road, was reported about 5:45 a.m.

CHP officers advised Pomona Police to search for two subjects that ran from the scene, one of them with a possible head injury, the CHP reported.

Sheriff's deputies from the Walnut station also began a search for the suspects, originally thought to be two Latinos about 25 years old.

Two lanes were reopened by 6:08 a.m., the CHP reported, and by 6:32 a.m., all lanes were open.

The Border Patrol was also asked to watch for the suspects, the CHP said.

The suspects were finally taken into custody -- there was no word on whether there was alcohol involved -- but West Covina police indicated they could not take the boys to Juvenile Hall.

They were taken instead to the county jail, according to the CHP.
