DUI Crash in Diamond Bar Blocks Freeway Lanes

The crash on the eastbound Pomona (60) Freeway, just east of the northbound Orange (57) Freeway, was reported about 4 a.m., a CHP officer told Patch.

A DUI motorist is suspected of causing a rollover crash that blocked all lanes of the eastbound Pomona (60) Freeway in Diamond Bar early Sunday. The crash just east of the northbound Orange (57) Freeway, was reported about 4 a.m., California Highway Patrol Officer Ed Jacobs told Patch. The lanes remained blocked for a short time and the motorist suffered minor injuries, Jacobs said. Charges were pending.

Stolen Car Delays Amgen Tour

Firefighters and search and rescue climbers rappelled down a cliff to examine a stolen car that had dumped over the side of Glendora Ridge Road.

The Amgen Tour of California cycling race was delayed by 30 minutes today as firefighters and search and rescue climbers rappelled down a cliff to examine a stolen car that had dumped over the side of Glendora Ridge Road today. Rescue workers blocked the winding, narrow roadway while the car was searched for any possible victims. No one was found, said Los Angeles County Fire Supervising Dispatcher Melanie Flores. According to the CHP, officers requested for the race be delayed at 11:49 a.m., when it was realized that firefighters could not clear the roadway at the scheduled race time. Firefighters had been dispatched to the scene, at mile marker 3.14, at 10:25 a.m. on a report that the dumped car may  have been stolen, Flores said. CHP …

Memorial Torch Run Races Through Walnut

The annual three-day event honors law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

Personnel from the Walnut/Diamond Bar Sheriff's Station took to the streets of Walnut Friday to participate in the annual Memorial Torch Relay. Local law enforcement officers, including some serving Walnut and Diamond Bar, ran down Valley through Pomona and Walnut. Some rode bicycles. Designated runners carried the torch.  The Memorial Torch Relay run was established in 1976 to honor the memory of fallen Los Angeles County police officers and sheriff's deputies. The event kicked off Friday with a press conference at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's headquarters in Monterey Park.  This three-day relay run consists of 59 legs, each approximately 4 to 10 miles in length, totaling 339 miles overall.  On Wednesday, the flame will be ignited at …

Walnut and Diamond Bar Residents Urged to Avoid Downtown LA Drive

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has issued a traffic alert for the downtown area this weekend due to several sports and other events planned.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is urging motorists to avoid driving to downtown LA this weekend, especially Sunday, and encouraging residents to take public transportation when possible. This weekend is a busy one with the Tour of California bike race coming to downtown, along with playoff games for the Kings, Lakers, and Clippers. Suspect Opens Fire on Industry Sheriff's Deputies

Three people who had been in a stolen car were in custody today. Deputies say they were fired upon from inside the vehicle.

Three people who had been in a stolen car from which shots were fired at pursuing sheriff's deputies were in custody today following their arrests in Baldwin Park, authorities said. The car was spotted around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday by a member of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Narcotics Strike Team, who determined it was reported stolen, said Sgt. Peter Gomez of the sheriff's Headquarters Bureau. The vehicle was followed until a marked patrol car from the sheriff's Industry Station arrived, at which time the chase began, he said. An 18-year-old man was killed this morning when his motorcycle crashed on the Orange (57) Freeway in San Dimas, temporarily shutting down several freeway lanes, a California Highway Patrol officer said. The crash happened about 9:50 a.m. on the northbound 57 Freeway, just south of the Foothill (210) Freeway, CHP Officer Ed Jacobs said. A SIG alert was issued at 10 a.m. that was expected to last for about for about two hours while officers investigate the incident, California Highway Parol officials said. UPDATED: Armed West Covina Man Sought for Alleged Kidnapping

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is searching for 43-year-old Joe Martinez, who allegedly kidnapped an ex-girlfriend from her Pico Rivera home.

Updated: 10:42 p.m. The victim has been located by Los Angeles County Sheriff's investigators. She has no visible injuries. Man Suspected of St. John Vianney Arson in Court Today

Gregory Yusuke Shiga, 34, was arrested this week after a year-long investigation.

A suspected arsonist accused of setting fire to St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Hacienda Heights in April 2011 and causing more than $6.5 million in damages is expected to be arraigned this afternoon, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced. Gregrory Yusuke Shiga, 34, has been charged with one count each of aggravated arson of a structure or forest, possession of flammable material, and second degree commercial burglary.  The Los Angeles man is set to appear in Department 4 of Citrus Superior Court in West Covina today to formally hear the charges against him.  His bail is recommended at $1 million. Search for Missing Boys Moves to Different Landfill

Investigators looking for two boys they suspect were killed by their father have begun to search an Irvine landfill. Shazer Fernando Limas is charged with the murders of his wife, 31-year-old Arlet Hernandez Contreras, and their two boys.

Orange detectives today used cadaver dogs to search another landfill for two boys believed murdered by their father, who's also charged with killing their mother. Shazer Fernando Limas, arrested May 3, is charged with the murders of his wife, 31-year-old Arlet Hernandez Contreras, and their two boys: year-old Fernando and 3-month-old Emmanuel, in the family's Orange apartment in the 3000 block of West Chapman Ave. Contreras' body was found April 25 dumped in La Puente but she was not positively identified until about a week later. A search of the Brea Landfill last week found no trace of the boys. Detectives learned that the trash haulers under contract to the apartment complex also took refuse to the Frank Bowerman Landfill in Irvine, …

The robber hit a wholesale food production business in the unincorporated Avocado Heights area near La Puente.

A wholesale food production business in the unincorporated Avocado Heights area near La Puente was robbed today, but no one was hurt, authorities said. The robbery at Rice Field Corp. in the 14000 block of East Valley Boulevard was reported by an employee around 1:30 a.m., said Lt. Richard Shear of the Los Angeles County sheriff's Industry Station. Deputies used a dog to search the business and its surroundings, Shear said. No arrests were reported. "It sounds like there was a delay in how long it took to report it," Shear said. There was no immediate word on what property was taken.
